Is this thing on?

Tap, tap, tap . . . is this thing on? Is anybody still out there? Can you hear me? This must be what it feels like to play a one-woman show to an empty theater. Of course, in my case the theater is empty because I've failed to show up for curtain call. For a month. Again.

So here's what I want you to do: immerse me. I've hit "Mark all as read" so many times in my Google reader it's not even funny, and I know I've missed some stuff. Probably, some pretty good stuff. So link up. Send me to the things I didn't comment on, but should have -- whether you wrote them or not. I've never visited your blog? Now is the time to tell me about it. I want to be here, in this virtual world, and it's time to catch up.

Crickets . . . (Oh, how I wish I could write the sound that they make instead of just saying "crickets". That's lame. But you can still hear them, right?)

Well...I'm sure many other people have written far better posts. But I personally would recommend you read my post about my mom http://crayzdaze.blogspot.com/2010/11/other-life-i-might-have-had.html. I've missed you! I was actually thinking a couple of days ago that its been a while since I've read a post of yours!

I don't have a ton of posts from the last month, but I'd love if you started reading my NEXT months posts (starting yesterday). I'm turning 30 in 30 days, and I'm doing a post every single day and a couple of giveaways and stuff.

Glad to know you're still around!

I learned that I'm not as open-minded as I thought I was (although I still think I'm pretty open-minded) after meeting a dwarf working in a fast food restaurant (it's actually a far better story than it sounds)

"Mark all as read" gets tapped a lot here too. Starting over is very therapeutic, huh?

Over at my place I have been lamenting a few hard decisions I have to make in placing my special Ed students for next school year. Also, I am trying take a lot more photos for my posts.

To comment or not to comment...
I choose to comment because I love what you wrote. I feel/think just the same way and blog for the same reasons and comment or not, (often not) for the same reasons. I love reading my thoughts written so well by someone else!
I think you're someone I'd like to follow. I'm fairly new to the blogging world but I think it's one of the best things I can do for me and I think your blog might be part of it.

To Comment, or Not to Comment?

I write for personal enrichment. It forces me to use my brain, improve my vocabulary, focus my energies, and exercise my talents. Even if there is only one person out there besides my blood relatives who reads a word I've written, I want my writing to be as clean and polished as possible for that one person, and for myself -- because I am a bit of a perfectionist, and because I have found that it is a singular pleasure to go back to old posts and reminisce about what my kids were doing, or what I was thinking about. I am grateful that even though I can't remember what was happening in my life six months ago (precisely) I have recorded something of the thoughts and events I was experiencing then.

I also read for personal enrichment. Sometimes I comment, sometimes I don't. But I never (can I say it louder? NEVER) comment just because I want someone else to comment on my blog. I would call that insincere. I would call that fake. I would call that a bit too much like middle school for comfort.

I comment when I feel moved to comment; when I have some valid question, or an answer for someone else's; when I feel inspired by someone's post, be it hilarious or harrowing or heartfelt. But I don't not comment because I disliked something. Sometimes it's just the opposite, and I feel like anything I could say would seem trite next to the extremely wonderful post I've been reading.

I expect the same of you, dear readers! Don't comment on my blog just because you want my comments. You may or may not get them, and if you do, it will have nothing to do with reciprocity. The only thing that will get me to comment on your blog is content.

So. I write for me. I read for me. Sometimes I comment. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I get comments. Sometimes I don't. But either way, I'll still be writing. And either way, I will have many happy days of reminiscing and remembering in the future because I had the wherewithal to write down some stuff about my life.
